Rickie : Night 1 at City Winery 4/9

A great start to Rickie's 2 night residency at City Winery : gotta say,she was in incredibly fine voice ! Also in very talkative mood and shared a lot of funny observations and anecdotes ( couple of really funny/pointed ones about Chris Isaac, and Jeff Porcaro in particular ) .It was also her daughters 25th b-day, which put her in a wistful mood ,and led to a killer version of "Wild Girl' . It literally had this front porch feeling, with Rickie leaning back and playing guitar from a chair. And yes, she even acknowledged that last City Winery show ,where things went awry ;) A lot of highlights : Satellites ( gorgeous),We Belong Together ( absolutely kick arse despite a couple of broken piano keys as the very end), and a super tough, raw version of "Sympathy for the Devil". And "Last Chance" sounded especially good, one of the best versions I've ever seen her do.She even tried to get us to chant "c*nt" during "Living it Up" after that line ;) And shared the drama of a broken nail during the show as well which included filing it on stage :) This was a good one ! Looking forward to tonight.
